SAFRA Resort 27-hole Championship Course
This newly renovated 27-hole championship golf course was
originally designed by renowned golf architect Max Wexler, with
recent additions by Ted Parslow of Malaysian-based golf design
firm E&G Parslow. The course is larger with more undulating
greens that have been redesigned with new Seashore Paspalum
SeaIsle Supreme grass. The three nines - Air Force, Army and
Navy are each championship quality circuit in themselves. Fancy
the unique experience of golfing by the sea? It not only gives a
beautiful view but totally relaxes you as well.
At the same time, the Resort is no
stranger to hosting international events. We have been the venue
for the Singapore Open Amateur Golf Championship in 1994, 1995 and
2007, and the APGA Merlion Masters Golf Championship in 1996.
The Army Course was re-opened for play
on 23 April 2007 while the Navy Course was re-opened on 15 October
2007.
Kranji Sanctuary 18-hole Championship
Golf Course
NSRCC's golf course at Neo Tiew Lane 3 was named Kranji Sanctuary
Golf Course and built to champion standards. NSRCC appointed
renowned golf course architect, Gary Player to design the
course. The total length of the course is 6400m.
The design emphasized conservation and
the re-creation of natural habitats. A total of about 18 hectares of
marshland out of the 72 hectares land area are preserved. A unique
feature of the golf course is that it can provide public access via
a nature trail to designated bird-watching sites.
Golfers at Kranji Sanctuary will be allowed to play from the black tee on Thursdays.
The following conditions will be applied:
a) The flight (every member of the flight) must possess handicap 12 and below to be eligible to play from the black tee.
b) Black-tee cards will be issued to the eligible flights upon registration. Verification of handicap will be stringent.
c) Black-tee card must be displayed prominently on the buggy's windscreen.
d) At the moment, very hole will have its own black-tee makers except for Hole #1, #2, #3, #6, #17 & #18 which will be combined with the Blue tee markers.
The Executive Par-3 Course
Promising to provide some of the most exciting experiences found in regional golf today,
NSRCC's Executive Par-3 golf course swings into operation on 15
Mar 2000. Constructed with a good view of the sea and next to the East Coast coastline, it is the first links-style
Par-3 golf course in Singapore and possibly the region.
'Links' is a traditional term for a golf course which evolved on lands around the shores of the British Isles. While the sand-dune terrain was of little agricultural use, its free-draining properties made the land an ideal recreation area. To this day, the most authentic and fascinating golf is to be played on these stretches of wildly undulating land, and it is after this traditional links that the Resort's Par-3 was
modeled. In keeping with its links-land style, the course has been intentionally kept rustic and coastal in nature so as to provide a sharp contrast to Singapore's urban landscape. With the excess earth found on the site which was once a wasteland, differences in elevation between the water level of lakes and the highest points of mounds have been exaggerated to produce a giant sand-dune effect in true links fashion.
*The Executive par-3 course is open for play to both members and the public. All golfers are required to produce their Proficiency Cards (PC Card) or Handicap Cards. For those who do not have any PC or Handicap Card, they may request for a test to demonstrate that they have the basic skill and ability to hit a ball. The Golf Pro will conduct this test at the Driving Range. Upon passing, a Par-3 Course Proficiency Card will be issued. Our Driving Range is open from
7:00 am to 10:00 pm except on Monday from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Please make prior arrangements with the Club to take this test.
