NSRCC Junior Golf Squad

Hey! Junior golfers! Do you love to play golf? Do you enjoy competitions? Do you aspire be part of the National Youth Squad? Are you willing to work and train hard both on and off the greens?

If your answers to all the above questions are ‘yes’, then NSRCC wants you!

The Club is looking for eight junior golfers (aged 16 years and below) to form its first Junior Golf Squad in 2006. So, if you have been regularly participating in the Club’s Monthly Medals and competitions, you may be selected to be a part of the squad. If you are not already doing so, then now is a good time to start.

Junior golfers who meet the eligibility criteria can look forward to receiving an invitation to join the Squad later this year.

So junior golfers, if you are eyeing a spot on the squad, keep competing, practicing and working hard on your game!

Information for the Parents:

Objective:

A maximum of eight (8) junior golfers will be selected. They will undergo a 36-week training programme sponsored by NSRCC, while the respective parents will contribute 20% of the fees for golf lessons. Upon graduation, junior golfers who have achieved a golf handicap of 8 or lower will be recommended to SGA for its National Team selection.

Eligibility:

This programme is open to NSRCC Junior Members, aged 16 years old and below only. The age eligibility is pegged at two years below the age ceiling for National Youth Squad Trials. Junior members must possess a valid golf handicap index issued by NSRCC or SGA’s affiliated clubs (24 and below for boys; 32 and below for girls). Parents must agree to pay the 20 of the golf lesson fees.

Selection of Junior Squad:

The order of merit for junior members will be computed based on a minimum of 6 monthly medals and/or Club competitions scores (gross) starting June this year. The Club will compute the order of merit as at 31 Dec for this year’s selection. Top eight (8) players in the order of merit will qualify for initial selection. In subsequent years, the number in the order of merit will be selected based on vacancies in the Junior Squad.

Training Programme (Jan - Dec):

§ Training will be conducted by golf Pros appointed by NSRCC.

Maintenance of Sponsorship:

Junior Squad members who fail to abide by the following terms will be disqualified and his/her sponsorship will be withdrawn automatically:

§ Performance

Junior Squad members must maintain a top 10 or better position in the order of merit. They must also achieve a handicap index of 8 or lower to be eligible for SGA National Junior Squad trials. A Junior Squad member who failed to maintain the above-mentioned for 2 years consecutively will be disqualified.

§ Absenteeism

Any Junior Squad member who is absent for three or more training lessons consecutively without notice or valid reason will be disqualified.

§ Default on 20% of Lesson Fees

Parent’s contribution (of 20%) is estimated at $780 per Junior per year.
