Kranji Sanctuary Golf Course

Finally the wait is over! The long anticipated opening of the second 9-hole of Kranji Sanctuary Golf Course is finally over. The full 18 holes will be fully operational with effect from 9 Nov 2004.

Booking for weekday slots is opened on 2 Nov, while booking for the weekend slots (13 & 14 Nov) starts on 5 Nov. With the full operation of the 18 holes, the current maintenance day on Tuesday will be moved to Monday. However, one 9-hole will still remain in operation on maintenance day.

The course is designed with the emphasis of conservation and the re-creation of natural habitats. A unique feature of the golf course is that it provides public access via a nature trail to designated bird-watching sites. This 18-Hole Gary Player course spans 6400m. Large stretches of swampland in its natural state are preserved and let untouched, with new ponds, marshes and waterbodies added as an integral part of the course.

These are evident from the moment you tee-off at the first hole. Just off to the right of the fairway is a pond, actually part of the preserved swampland. And as you move on hole-by-hole, you will notice more ponds, reservoir, marshlands and native trees and plants around the golf course.

Kranji Sanctuary Golf Course was not only designed as a golf course to satisfy the hunger of golfers, but also a sanctuary for flora and fauna. With all the preservation carefully planned and carried out, it is envisaged that in the long term, the microclimates will bring back wildlife indigenous to the area. Over 48 species of birds were recorded during an ecological assessment conducted by NSS in Aungust 2000. Of these, 15 species including the grey herons found at Kranji, are breeding within or in close proximity to the course.

"Being the first golf club in Singapore and second in South East Asia to receive the Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary award, as well as the Environmental Stewardship Award from 1999 to 2001 for our conservation efforts at Changi, NSRCC would like its new golf course at Kranji to bear the same hallmark," said Mr Tang, GM, NSRCC.

With the picture of all the 18-hole, hope you find it useful to navigate around the golf course and make that par. See you at KSGC!
